THE GOOD â speed to prototype, creativity, momentum
THE BAD & THE UGLY â poor choices, secrets in code, no tests
Tech: The Six Pillars đī¸
AWS Well-architected Framework
Operational Excellence - call things out verbally/in slack when they aren't covered by code process and/or tests/automation
Security - fairly self-explanatory, but leverage the big players at first, keeping a mind towards 'ejection'
Reliability - build in consistency and repeatability
Performance Efficiency - use well-established targets
Cost Optimization - don't sign up for year long subscriptions with AI right now
Sustainability - sign up for options like wind/solar for your grid
Tips & Tricks
First, only add the minimum you need
Add in layers expanding out from the center
Specific solutions first, then abstractions
Enjoy the focus
Read Hacker News religiously
Product: The Five Pillars đĒŠ
"The Jake" product framework???
The Many U's of User - User interface (UI), experience (UX), and research (UR). There's NEVER been a time talking to a user that I didn't learn something about how the product could be better
Analytics - Measure what you build; focus on actionable metrics, not vanity
Marketing - leverage network effects, social media, get out there to learn where your customers are
Sales - we all have to make money; get busy selling
Legal - stand up your business, but can be done in waves
ok. here's some requiements. there will be a loading screen, but that can just say loading and show a progress bar at first. then when we land on the game page first screen, there's a cute egg front and center. there will be a default defined egg design, but there will be 9 smaller eggs around the big main default egg with different colors. then the user will tap the one they want and that will replace the center big egg with the chosen color. then it hatches with some animation and opens and shows a finch with the color chosen (the egg color choice). on that same screen it says 'hi there, what's your name?' then there's a little form field to type in whatever name the user wants (with min four letters required). once the egg hatches and the name has been entered, then on the left of the finch will be a space to name the FINCH (not the user name) and then there will be a 5 minute timer with the finch arms sticking out sideways...and the head sticking upward. on the left side also there is an AR mode button, a 23:59:59 seconds clock (really 24 hour) and then there will be a daily gift that you get every 24 hours. and on the left side there's a 'my finch plus' button to subscribe at $5/month to get full access (to be defined later). now the buttons on the bottom. there will be six and they will be: toys, toilet, water bowl, bed, food bowl, and a more button (...). the toy button will take you to a spinning selection of toys, then user will tap a toy, and the toy will appear for the finch to play with (replacing any previously existing toy). each toy will have a 'cost' in game points/coins (not usd)...so that the user will decide what toys to spend their earned coins on. the same goes for toilet, water bowl, bed, and food bowl. the more button will take the user to a bird spa mode/page that will allow the bird's teeth to be brushed, and you can wash the birds wings and body, and flea removal, and give it cucumber eye covers and a spa mask. each of those items are how the user EARNS coins. the more pampering the more coins earned. user earns coins for each button press of flea removals, wash wings/body, etc. there's also a mini game under the more button and you will combine potatoes, wheat, and burger buns to make burgers from the buns, fries from the potatoes, and pastries from the wheat. you earn coins for making any of those things in the mini game because you can sell them. i'm sure there's details to sort out, but that's a solid start. for the first version, we want to build this with VERY BASIC art so we get to play the game early and not try to perfect the art until we get the game more tuned. stick figures or other low fi similar artwork is fine.
